। ॥ ५६ ॥

In plain words

O Aparṇā, afraid that your long eyes, whispering at your ears, will expose them as imitators, the unblinking fish hide in the water. The beauty of those eyes leaves the blue lotus at dawn when its petal-doors close, then opens them and enters again at night.

Close to the Sanskrit

O Aparṇā, frightened by the malicious tale-bearing of your eyes reaching the ear, unblinking minnows certainly hide themselves in the water; and this beauty, having the folded petals as doors of the blue lotus, abandons it at dawn and enters at night after opening it.
