He is the reason the best of what you long for ever reaches your hands — namaḥ śivāya. He rises over the house of every cruel demon like a comet trailing smoke — namaḥ śivāya. He is the dam of dharma, and creation is kept safe behind it — namaḥ śivāya. He stands here in eight forms, and the great bull rides on his banner — namaḥ śivāya.

To the cause of the giving of the foremost of desired things — reverence to Śiva. To the smoke-bannered comet over the lineage of wicked Daityas — reverence to Śiva.
