। ॥ २२ ॥

In plain words

Greed and its whole gang have him completely; he lives for nothing but carrying off what isn't his. Right now he is at the rich man's house, set to slip inside, darting this way and that in a fever — and you, Śaṅkara, are the chief of thieves. So how am I supposed to keep putting up with this thief, my own mind? You are everywhere; take him into your custody. Then have mercy on me. I have done nothing.

Close to the Sanskrit

Made wholly dependent, by greed and the rest, on the carrying off of wealth, intent upon entry into a rich man's house, he rushes about in many ways, O Lord of thieves! This thief, the mind — how am I to endure it here, O Śaṅkara, O all-pervading one? Having made it subject to you, show mercy on me, who am without offence.
