In plain words
O Lord of every tethered creature — isn't this one act enough, all by itself, to show what your grace is? You looked at the moving and unmoving worlds inside your own belly, and at everything standing outside you, and you meant to keep both safe. So the venom — the one drug that sent every immortal running, blazing, sheer terror to look at — you did not swallow it, and you did not spit it out. You set it down in your throat and held it there.

Or is not this one [deed] alone enough as the supreme benefaction, O Lord of tethered beings — seeing the hosts of moving and unmoving creatures gone within your belly and those standing outside, in order to protect [them], the poison, the medicine that makes all the immortals flee, producing extreme flames, terrifying, was deposited in the throat, neither swallowed nor spat out by you?
