In plain words
I revere the gentle crescent moon adorning Lord Śiva’s crown—curved and blemished though it is, it rose to become a crest-jewel simply through the grace of serving His feet, silently telling all mankind through its own exalted state: 'Turn to Śiva in devotion!'
Close to the Sanskrit
I bow to the charming nectar-rayed moon of the crest-jewel of Śambhu—which, though curved, flawed, and insentient, has attained the status of a crest ornament through the grace of serving His feet, silently proclaiming through its very state: 'Let multitudes of people serve Śiva!'
