The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Svātmaprakāśikā

Verse 4

जगत्कारणमज्ञानमेकमेव चिदन्वितम् ।एक एव मनः साक्षी जानात्येवं जगत्त्रयम् ॥ १ ॥

In plain words

What the world comes out of is ignorance — avidyā, one single thing, and consciousness runs all through it. And there is one witness of the mind, one only, and it is that one which knows the three worlds, just so.

Close to the Sanskrit

The cause of the world is ignorance, one alone, joined with consciousness. One alone, the witness of the mind, knows in this way the triad of worlds.
