वृक्षोत्पन्नफलैर्वृक्षो यथा तृप्तिं न गच्छति ।मय्यध्यस्तान्नपानाद्यैस्तथा तृप्तिर्न विद्यते ॥ ५६ ॥

A tree puts out its own fruit and is never once fed by it. It is the same with me: food, drink, and all the rest of it are superimposed on me — and no fullness ever reaches me at all.

Just as a tree does not go to satiety by means of the fruits produced from the tree, so too, by food, drink and the rest superimposed on me, no satiety is found.
