The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Svātmaprakāśikā

Verse 67

In plain words

When wind and fire press on the channels, hunger comes. Wind and fire are what do the pressing — so how could hunger be in me, who am awareness itself?

Close to the Sanskrit

When the channels are being pressed by wind and fire, hunger would arise. Since those two are the cause of the pressing, how (could it arise) in me, whose nature is consciousness?
