In plain words
He who is the preeminent lord of sacred meters, assuming all forms, who arose from the hymns and from the immortal source—may Indra bless me with clear intellect. O divine one, may I become a worthy guardian of immortality. May my physical frame be agile, and my tongue exceptionally sweet. May I listen deeply through both ears. You are the hidden treasury of the Supreme Truth, veiled by my mind. Guard my sacred learning, bringing forth and expanding prosperity.

He who is the bull of meters, of universal form, who from the meters and from the immortal has sprung forth—may that Indra endow me with intellect. O god, may I be a vessel holding immortality. May my body be capable, my tongue most honeyed. Through my ears may I hear abundantly. You are the treasury of Brahman, covered by my intellect. Guard my heard learning, bringing and expanding.
