In plain words

Śruti would not teach that Ātman is free from Karma and from the Varṇa distinctions Karma creates if it did not intend Karmas and their supports, such as the sacred thread, to be left behind. A Mumukṣu—one seeking Mokṣa—must therefore relinquish Karma and its means, since they conflict with seeing one's non-difference from Paramātman. Ātman is to be known as the supreme itself, bearing the Lakṣaṇas declared by Śruti.

Close to the Sanskrit

Śruti would not have declared a Svarūpa unconnected with Karma, and a nature unconnected with Varṇa and the rest caused by Karma, if Karmas and their means, such as the sacred thread, were not intended to be abandoned. Therefore a Mumukṣu must abandon Karma together with its means, because it opposes the vision of non-difference from Paramātman. Ātman must be understood as the supreme itself, with the Lakṣaṇas stated by Śruti.
