In plain words
The mind takes on the shape of a cognition when it meets an object — and that same shape turns up in memory, and in someone asleep, looking exactly like an object standing out there. It works the same way with the body: measure the mind against the body and you find both of them are things that get seen — and so both stand apart from the Seer.
Close to the Sanskrit
The waking-form of the mind, born of contact with an object, is seen — in memory, and in the case of one asleep — as though it were an object. In just the same way, by the analogy of the body, the body and the mind, by virtue of being objects seen, are separate from the Seer.
