Look at water: the sun's disc rests on it, the sun's warmth is in it — and neither one belongs to the water. Awareness appears in the intellect in just that way. It is not the intellect's property. Their natures are unlike.

Just as the sun's disc and its heat are seen in water, and yet are not the water's own — so too awareness in the intellect is not a property of it; exactly so must it be, because of the difference of nature.
