In plain words
The gods churned the great ocean and lifted out the nectar of immortality. In just the same way, the great-souled ones churned the ocean of the Veda and lifted out this nectar, this knowledge. They did it long ago, and they saw it to its very depth. To those teachers, my salutation.
Close to the Sanskrit
Just as, by the gods, having churned, the nectar was drawn up out of the great ocean — so, by the great-souled ones, out of the ocean of the Veda, this knowledge, this nectar indeed, was drawn up; by whom of old, and by whom it was supremely beheld — salutation to those teachers.
