Sureśa is the lord of the gods, or the master of all benevolent givers. He is Śaraṇa, the ultimate refuge who banishes the grief of the distressed. He is Śarma, peace itself, because His very essence is supreme bliss. He is Viśvaretāḥ, the primal seed from which the universe springs. He is Prajābhavaḥ, the source from whom all beings emerge. He is Ahaḥ, day, by virtue of His luminous form. And Viṣṇu, abiding as time itself, is celebrated as Saṃvatsara, the year.
