The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Viṣṇusahasranāmastotram

Verse 521

धनुर्धरो धनुर्वेदो दण्डो दमयिता दमः ।अपराजितः सर्वसहो नियन्ता नियमोऽयमः ॥ १०५ ॥

In plain words

He carries the bow, and he is the science of the bow. He is the rod that falls, the one who subdues, and the restraint by which they are subdued. No one has ever defeated him. He bears everything. He holds all things in check, he is the rule that holds them — and nothing holds him.

Close to the Sanskrit

The bearer of the bow, the science of the bow, the rod, the subduer, restraint; the undefeated, the all-enduring, the controller, the rule, the unrestrained.
