In plain words

Even after you have known the truth, one stubborn impression, without any beginning, keeps its grip: the firm sense 'I am the one doing this, I am the one experiencing this.' That is what keeps you tied to this cycle of becoming. It has to be worked loose, deliberately, by resting your gaze inward, in the Self. The sages here call this — the thinning out of that old impression — liberation itself.

Even when the [true] Reality is known, this powerful, beginningless latent impression persists: the firm [notion] 'I am the doer, I am also the enjoyer' — which is the cause of this [person's] transmigratory existence. It is to be removed, through effort, by one who dwells in the Self through the inward vision. The sages here declare liberation to be exactly this — the attenuation of latent impressions.
