In plain words
The empty space inside a wine jar never actually smells of the wine — the smell only seems to belong to it because of the jar. In just the same way, the Self, even though it seems bound up with body and mind, is never actually stained by any quality of that covering.
Close to the Sanskrit
Space is not tainted by the smell of liquor through its connection with a jar. Similarly, the Self, through its connection with a limiting adjunct, is not at all tainted by that adjunct's properties.
