In plain words

O Guru, I was lost, wandering and suffering constant, manifold torments in this vast dream, deep in the tangled forest of birth and old age and death that māyā had built, hunted the whole time by the tiger of my own ego. And you, out of sheer, boundless compassion, woke me from that deep sleep and saved me completely.
