The works of Ādi Śaṅkarācārya

Yogatārāvalī

Verse 21

In plain words

Stay awake without a gap, and break the chains of saṅkalpa by force as they link themselves together. With nothing left to lean on, the mind thins out — and slowly, slowly, it comes to rest.

Close to the Sanskrit

Continuously vigilant in forcibly breaking apart the successive chains of thought-constructs, the mind, being diminished for want of any support, slowly, slowly reaches peace.
