Why does essential Consciousness not burn ignorance in deep sleep, while as vṛtti-jñāna it does? The sun pervades the world with light, yet when focused through a sunstone its rays kindle fire. Likewise, in samādhi Consciousness focused through the knowledge-vṛtti burns ignorance.
