When property is at stake, the son as ‘secondary self’ may become foremost; while preserving life, the body as the falsely identified self may seem foremost; when seeking heavenly good, the acting jīva is foremost. But in liberation, where insentient ignorance dissolves, the Self as pure Knowledge alone is supremely primary.
