Do not object that describing the qualityless Reality with attributes is like calling one's mother barren. How could the subtle truth of a thing be communicated without words that indicate it? Scripture compassionately uses these expressions so that Brahma-jñāna may arise and jīvanmukti be attained; the so-called ‘qualities’ are not additions to Brahman but pointers to Brahman's very nature.
