Within these guṇas appears the reflection of Consciousness, subtle and space-like. The purest predominance of sattva is called māyā. Brahman reflected in that pure māyā is the Inner Ruler, Īśvara—the intelligent cause of the universe—while in truth He remains untouched by every guṇa.
