Paragraph 8

Paragraph 8

In plain words

What truly exists is one thing only: the Self's own nature. The world, the soul, and the Lord are all imagined appearances, the way silver seems to appear in mother-of-pearl. All three of them rise together, and vanish together. That one nature is the world; that one nature is 'I'; that one nature is the Lord. Everything is nothing but the nature of Śiva.

Word for word

What truly exists is only the one nature of the Self. The world, the individual soul, and the Lord are imaginings, standing like [the illusion of] silver in mother-of-pearl. All three of these appear at the same time, and vanish at the same time. That very nature is the world; that very nature is 'I'; that very nature is the Lord; all is of the nature of Śiva.
