Paragraph 20
In plain words
There are not two minds, a good one and a bad one — there is only one mind. It is the impressions that come in two kinds, wholesome and unwholesome. When the mind is ruled by wholesome impressions, we call it a good mind; when it is ruled by unwholesome ones, we call it a bad mind. However bad other people may seem, don't hate them for it. Liking and disliking are both, equally, things to shun. Don't let the mind dwell too much on the affairs of the world, and, as far as you can help it, don't meddle in other people's business. Whatever you give to another, you are really only giving to yourself. Know this, and who would ever refuse to give?
Word for word
There are not two minds, called the good mind and the bad mind; there is only one mind. It is the impressions that are of two kinds, wholesome and unwholesome. When the mind stands under the sway of wholesome impressions it is called the good mind; when it stands under the sway of unwholesome impressions it is called the bad mind. However bad others may appear to be, one must not hate them for it. Both liking and disliking are themselves things to be shunned. One should not let the mind dwell too much on worldly matters. As far as possible, one should not intrude into the business of others. Whatever one gives to another, one is only giving to oneself. If one knows this truth, who indeed would refrain from giving?
