Paragraph 21

Paragraph 21

In plain words

When oneself rises, everything rises. When oneself subsides, everything subsides. The more humbly we live, the more good comes of it. Keep the mind restrained, and you can stay anywhere at all.

Word for word

If oneself (tāṉ) rises, everything rises. If oneself subsides, everything subsides. The more humbly we conduct ourselves, the more good there is. If one keeps the mind restrained, one may remain wherever one is.
