In plain words
The upsurge is Bhairava. Now he teaches the means of stilling this bondage, whose reality is rest in the goal. The upsurge is the welling up of supreme intuition, a sudden leaping forth of awareness, which is made of vimarśa and whose form is expansion. That upsurge is Bhairava: because, in the oneness of all powers, it is filled with the whole universe; because it devours the whole swarm of thought-constructs; and because it brings about the revealing of one's own nature as Bhairava. It arises in those who share in devotion, whose wealth is attention turned within to this reality. That is what is taught. As the Mālinīvijaya says: "The absorption that arises in one who thinks of nothing at all, through awakening by the guru, is called śāmbhava." Here the gurus have explained "through awakening by the guru" as meaning "through awakening from the guru, that is, from oneself". The Svacchanda also says: "The person who contemplates the Bhairava form of the Self, ever joined, O beautiful one, for him the mantras come to fulfilment." Contemplation here is just reflective awareness of the state of the one who upsurges, turned within. This is gathered up in the verse: "From which, in one wholly given to a single thought, another arises: know that as the unmeṣa; let one observe it for oneself."
