In plain words
So the presence and the absence of meditation on oneness with You are themselves virtue and fault; so he says: Even a fault, O God, what fault is it, if it is set upon reaching You? And even a virtue, what virtue is it indeed, if it is not set upon reaching You? O God, intent on the play of the universe and the rest: one who, even possessed of thirst for objects, is made of vimarśa of oneness with You, is virtuous indeed; but one who, though endowed with virtues such as learning and dispassion, does not have vimarśa of You as his essence, is faulty, a man whose understanding is only to be pitied. ‘Set upon’, samāsthitaḥ: standing, sthita, fully, samyak, through attaining non-difference, from every side, ā, that is, wholly intent.
