In plain words
So far, then, I am wholly intent on guarding the wealth of devotion; but even so, if the power of māyā of You, who hold sway, should take me into its midst, my own form forgotten, then: ‘Powerless, what can I do?’: for me, who can settle on nothing anywhere, the power of Śaṃkara, which graces all, is my refuge. Because I have been bewildered in the state of emergence by some power of māyā of the Great Lord, whose nature is play, ‘powerless, what can I do?’, that is, nothing; ‘who can settle on nothing anywhere’, that is, in all the activities of body, mind and speech, who takes up a settled resolve nowhere at all: for me, at a loss which way to turn by the ordinance of the Supreme Lord, the ‘power’ belonging to Śaṃkara, so called because He brings about the highest good, which is the spreading forth of the supreme non-duality, the power whose one purpose is grace to all, is the ‘refuge’: that alone will awaken me again. That is the meaning.
