In plain words
He who was born of Guṇāditya, weightiest in the host of virtues, who from childhood took his delight in the virtues of Śiva and went free of attachment in the world: since that Śūrāditya asked it of me again and again, with abundant devotion, I have therefore made here the Vivṛti on the hymn that is Nārāyaṇa's work. ‘Since a fine Vivṛti on this has been made by the venerable Rāma, what is this one for?’: do not, good people, set this in your minds, for there is a certain excellence in this Vivṛti. Therefore, out of love for the one who asked, in three or four days, Kṣemarāja made it, in the stainless field of the venerable Vijayeśvara: this is that worship of Śiva. Victorious is that one power of Śaṃbhu, whose body is prakāśa, who, simply by shining forth, spreads out the world made of supreme nectar. Thus ends the Stavacintāmaṇi, composed by the venerable Bhaṭṭa Nārāyaṇa, great devotee of Śiva and foremost among teachers. And the Vivṛti on it is that of Rājānaka Kṣemarāja, king of the bees at the lotus of the feet of the venerable Abhinavagupta, great devotee of Śiva and foremost among teachers, the disciple of a disciple of the revered author of the hymns of praise.
