In plain words

As the body is important to the jīva, so the country is important to God. Just as whatever happens in any part of the body concerns the jīva, so whatever mishap occurs in any part of the country concerns God in the same way. Just as we wish all the limbs of the body to be well, so God's feeling is that all the regions of the country must be equally well. When the whole country is God's body, would God wish for the destruction of His own limbs? In the matter of God all are equal. In the way of attaining God, all have the right. But whichever limbs must do whichever karmas and carry out their own duty, those limbs must do so. In the same way, the members of each varṇa must carry out their own duties without crossing their own limits, and toil for the welfare of the country. As the body has its differences of state, so for the country the varṇas are differences of state. Otherwise, if everyone were a trader, who would buy? If all were fighters, who would supply them with the food and drink they need? That is why it is a very excellent path for each to take up a varṇa, that is, a group, each doing their own work, and to regard all their karmas as being for the protection of the country. While there are so many things to be done, we are needlessly using the varṇas as a pretext and fighting among ourselves. We who cannot keep even our own bodies within limits, how then can we keep the country within limits? It is good to give up quarrels over varṇa and think of the welfare of the country. To protect our varṇas today, just as our forebears have kept protecting them all this time, is the highest good for the country itself.
