Passage 2

In plain words

It is said: ‘All this is pervaded by the Lord.’ Kṛṣṇa Paramātma said that although what exists is One, it appears as many; let us recall an example of this. It is evening, dim and hazy under the clouds, and in the middle of the path we are travelling lies a rope, coiled fold upon fold. In truth it is a rope and nothing but a rope, yet each traveller walking that path is deluded into taking it for a different thing. One takes it for a garland and steps over it. Another takes it for a trickle of water and treads on it as he goes. Another thinks some vine has fallen there. Still others wonder, ‘Is it a snake, or what is it?’, stand well away, examine it, and take fright. Isn't that so!
