On this ground some may doubt: “Arjuna has a sakāma attitude, has he not? How then will the ‘Gītā’ accept him as a devotee?” But in all the world not a single person is to be seen who has no desires of one kind or another. To fulfil their wishes, people take refuge in someone or other in the world, do they not? In the first place, simply having desires and vāsanās for sense-objects is one fault (doṣa). Then, at such a time, to forget God and take refuge in an ordinary man, one's equal, is a second fault. The devotee, however, does not do this: he hopes that the God in whom he has faith and whom he worships will fulfil his wishes, and he takes refuge in Him.
