Just then Arjuna pleaded, “Kṛṣṇa! I do not understand what Jñāna means. Is it what one hears from the lips of ācāryas, or what is in the śāstras, or what one hears from those who have experience? Which of these is called Jñāna? What kind of Jñāna must one gain for release from the bondage of worldly existence to come? Be gracious and tell me.”
