Until one reaches a certain state, of course, temples built outwardly are necessary; but there are many temples from time without beginning, are there not? Is it not enough to preserve them and put them to good use? Building new temples while knocking down ancient ones is like killing a cow and giving away sandals as a gift! Instead of going out of the way to build new temples, restoring ancient temples that have fallen into ruin does the world far more good. The consecrations of Dharma made in those days as the śāstras enjoin are supremely sacred. It is the power of such temples of Dharma itself that is the root cause of our Bhārat being safe today even to this extent.
