It was with this in view that Kṛṣṇa teased Arjuna: “Brother-in-law! The devatās stand higher than men, and the jñānis higher than the devatās. Yet even the ‘jñānis’, standing so high, cannot know the complete Jñāna of Parabrahman. Then is this possible for ordinary men like you?”
