Passage 12

In plain words

A lazy sannyāsī, so the story goes, went to a village. His belly was terribly hungry. A fine house, a house of Śrī Vaiṣṇavas: right at the front of the house they had marked the three nāmams. Seeing this: whoever these people are, they are great devotees. “Let us go to this house of nāmams; they will not put a nāmam on us at all”: so he believed, and he went to the house of the nāmams. “Bhavati bhikṣāndehi,” he said. From inside, the lady of the house came out: “My son! You are a sannyāsī. The Kāverī river flows right nearby. Go to the Kāverī, have your bath and come back. I will lay a leaf and serve you a meal. If I drop just this much alms into your bag, I will not be satisfied. So have your bath and come,” she told him, in kind words. This lazy fellow said, “Govindeti sadāsnānaṃ.” “For me the name of Govinda itself is my bath. I have no need of a bath. Serve me quickly,” he said. She was not one bit less than he. This fellow is being lazy. “Rāmanāmāmṛtaṃ sadā bhojanaṃ. Go now, and come again!” she said. If we use words in this way, we will surely get a reaction. So, hoping that you will put all the words we have learnt here, every one of them, into practice, be saved yourselves and live as an example to others, and blessing you, I bring My talk to a close.
