In plain words

Sacrifice is the very mark of Bhakti

Truly, enduring so many hardships in the hope of receiving Swami's Ānanda, the thousands who live outside in the little tents they have put up, covering themselves with cloths, bearing the sun and the cold ... They alone are the devotees. That sacrifice is the very mark of Bhakti. You have given up the comforts and pleasures of the body and the conveniences of food and recreation. If even a few stand firm in this way, only to receive the Ānanda of the Ātma, the future of Bhārata will before long shine again with a glory that spreads across the world. You need not worry about that. The culture of Bhārata, and the principle of Prema that shines in it, will very soon bring about the welfare of the world. I command you to make yourselves ready, to practise that culture enjoined by the Vedas that have no beginning and to rejoice in it, and to form yourselves into an army. I hope that, with courage and daring, you will all enter the spiritual path, give no room to discouragement or faint-heartedness, experience the power of the Ātma and be filled with Ānanda, and I bless you.
