Passage 12

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

But they do not do it that way. Guesswork. They sing all this guesswork in the bathroom. They must not sing it in the Lab. Suppose they put it down that all this will cost sixty thousand rupees. When we ask, “Sir, what are these sixty thousand rupees for?”: “Let it go, then; cut it by twenty thousand rupees.” Is this a vegetable trade? “Sir, brinjals are four rupees a kg? Give them for three and a half rupees,” they haggle. That is how these equipments have turned out. We must not waste money through such neglect, through such carelessness, or without thought. One more thing about this. Take it as a joke, if you like. There is a weakness in Me too. But in My view it is not a weakness. In the eyes of these people it is a weakness. For proper use I will give even lakhs; I will not hold back. If there is any sign of misuse, I will hold back even a single dammidi. In the matter of giving money I am very much in control. The reason is this: all the bad qualities in the world go on growing through this money alone. When I look at it strictly like this, they are hurt. But it does not matter even if they are hurt. I will not let go of My hold. Ask in the right way for as much as you like, and I will surely give it. Why is this? We must give the world something ideal. Many such misuses keep happening in the world. But in our institutions such misuses must not happen. That is why I keep giving such strict training. In this way Swami must show the ideal in His smallest step, in word, in thought. That is My chief resolve. I never have any hardship. But if anyone tells a lie, it gives Me pain I cannot bear. Tell the truth. Why do you foster Asatya in these small matters? If you tell the truth, “What was done is done, what was not done has not been done,” how much joy it brings! To cover up this Asatya you will have to speak Asatya ten more times.

In My view, among these human values Satya is the most important. There is no Dharma higher than Satya. If we bring in Asatya, the path we brought it into takes on the form of Asatya. So Satya is like man's chief life breath. If Satya goes, it is as if life itself has gone. So keeping this Satya as our goal, we must develop Dharma, Śānti and Ahiṃsā in daily life.
