In plain words
We must make what is infinite grow. When it becomes complete, it too becomes holy. A small example. We see a piece of charcoal. The charcoal is black. We must enquire into it. Once this was a piece of wood. By burning the wood it turned into charcoal. But how far did it burn to turn into charcoal? It turned into charcoal because part of it burned. Now, if we want to make this charcoal white, what must we do? Wash it with milk, and it does not become white. Wash it with soap, and the soap too turns black. What then is the way for it to become white? When you burn it through completely, the same thing turns into white ash. This is what they called ‘Pūrṇamidaḥ pūrṇamadaṃ pūrṇāt pūrṇamucyate.’ That is, by the time we experience it fully, this too turns full. Today we have no fullness and no beginning; we are in the middle. If it is in neutral gear, the vehicle goes neither forward nor backward. Today we are in neutral gear. We are not going forward, we are not coming back. Rather than sit in a car like this, it is better to get down and walk. So we must either put what we have studied into practice, or else not study at all. We are studying, and wasting money. We are wasting time. In the end we do not put it into practice. So we must practise well what we have learnt and carry out the Dharma enjoined on us.
There is every chance to turn humanness into divinity
If we want to drive away the corruption that has spread over the world today, we must carry out our duties. That is true value. When sound waves join with electric waves, even passing substances take shape as substances eternal and real and have the chance to turn into a power beyond the human.
