In plain words
So: muṇḍe muṇḍe matir bhinnā. Each head is separate, each head on its own. Each person's thoughts are different. I know that. For all to be alike is not possible at all. Nor am I asking you to be alike. With great Prema and Bhakti Sundaraiah said, ‘We give our promise, all of us children.’ He may give his own for himself, but how can he take on everyone's responsibility? How many people listen to his words? They do not listen even to My words. Will they listen to this Sundaraiah's words? So it is not right for anyone to take on this kind of answerability. Leave each one's to each. It will happen to each according to what is due to him.
What is in humanity is a oneness joined with diversity. But to the eye of Prakṛti, to this eye of pravṛtti, things look different. Except in the spiritual view, there is no oneness in any other view. ‘Ādhyātmika-vidyā vidyānām,’ says the Bhagavad Gītā. What does it mean? ‘Among kinds of learning, I am spiritual learning,’ He said. The sacred land where great sages skilled in this spiritual path were born is the land of Bhārata. It is by spirituality alone that the glory of this Bhārata has grown so great. It is because it is the land that has delight in God, bhagavad-rati, that it got the name Bhārata. So we who are born in such a Bhārata must try to develop our oneness well. When a son slips and falls somewhere, he breaks his leg. The mother has great Prema for her son. But she cannot say, ‘My son's leg is broken,’ and have the bandage tied on herself. The son himself must have the bandage tied. Each one must eat for his own hunger. So each one's Bhakti and surrender nourish him alone; for one person's Bhakti and surrender to be nourished by another is not possible. So develop the faith that whatever is said is said for your good. I never hope for anything for My own sake. If I hoped for something for Myself, what need would there be to spend so many crores, put up so many buildings and look after you in so many ways? I have no need of this at all. Devotees from different countries come pouring in, in heaps. Of the time I have given you, I do not give them even an atom. If I speak to them once, they feel great joy. I spoke with you day and night, cared for you in every way, made everything easy for you in every way: for doing so much, what has been the result? That is why spending time with you has not been so satisfying to Me. ‘Let us leave them free too for some time; it will happen as it will, according to what is due to them’: so I let them be. You think Swami may be angry. But there is pain. For what? That you did not listen to My words: ‘Alas, they are losing their way.
