In plain words
They are spoiling their whole life; they are going against what is ideal’: that is My pain. Wherever we are, we must try to conduct ourselves so that our own heart has a kind of contentment.
I am telling you today about some more matters. ‘We cannot give these boys seats. Their marks are not right. They have not written the examination well’: so the Registrar and the Vice-Chancellor too put up a bar against it. ‘No. No, we must give the children too a chance and see. We must give them freedom like that and test them once. It should not be like that’: with this I went on giving seats to all of them. But they are not behaving in the right way. Though I care for them in so many ways, hope for their progress and do so much, the doubt arises whether they have humanity, or whether there is demonishness in them, or whether there is beastliness. The form is the human form, but truly, in My view, all of them have the feelings of a beast. Whoever we look at, it is worldly pleasures and riches, worldly joys … we are all journeying; but the zest and the eagerness to say, ‘We have been given such a divine chance; let us make it worthwhile,’ are not seen in them. But, students! Human birth does not come whenever you like. Human birth is very hard to come by. What birth will come next, we cannot understand. We do not know. Try to make worthwhile the human birth that has come to you now. Learn the learning of this world to live in this world. To gain Śānti in the supreme Tattva, study the supreme learning too. This itself is not what is eternal for us. This itself is not Satya for us. As long as we are in this world now, we must study these kinds of learning. Through them we must indeed support our own life and, to some extent, the life of the parents who bore us. This is a responsibility. Do not fall into sin. We must not do what should not be done. We must not go where we should not go. We must not try to spoil the lives of others. Even if we spoil ourselves, that is still good; but we must not spoil another life through ourselves. Your parents sent you here with hopes as high as a mountain. You must not hurt their hearts. Try to give them the happiness they deserve. As I said at the beginning: Mātṛdevo bhava, pitṛdevo bhava, ācāryadevo bhava. Even if you are disloyal to God, it does not matter. But see that you are never disloyal to your parents. God has room to forgive. But parents have not the strength to forgive. Something happened, knowingly or unknowingly; it has happened, it is over. At least from now on, follow the right path to some extent, and through it lay a royal road fit for your future.
At this age certain kinds of mean feelings keep coming, all of them.
