In plain words
Only if you pass in these will you be given the certificate called God's grace.
Bhakti is what is not divided
The first of these, Bhakti, means service! We must believe that service to God, whose form is the universe, is service to all mankind, and that service to all mankind is service to God. Whatever work is done with faith and with love belongs to Bhakti. Bhakti is filled with Prema. Bhakti is what is not divided. The aim of Bhakti is to recognise well and understand the principle of God's Prema, to have that experience of Prema oneself, and to strive to share it with all. This is not something gained with a narrow mind. With a broad mind you must widen your outlook still further and experience this sacred joy.
At the word Bhakti most people think of ‘listening, singing His glory, remembering Viṣṇu, serving His feet, bowing down, worship, service, friendship and the offering of the self’. But these are only the paths of the practice of Bhakti! All these paths have one goal! To experience a principle so noble, so new and so divine, one needs the true principle of Prema.
Prapatti is to root out Ahaṅkāra and offer everything to God.
Prapatti means offering up everything. Between man and God a force stands like a dividing wall. That force, standing between the servant and God, is Ahaṅkāra. Only when this force is rooted out and everything is offered to God does the chance arise for man to become one with the Divine. Prapatti is the offering of all these: the body, the mind, the Buddhi, the citta, the senses and the antaḥkaraṇa. All of them depend on Ahaṅkāra alone. So if we offer up Ahaṅkāra alone, we shall have offered everything. For the diseases that come to men there are many medicines. Every disease yields to treatment. But this disease called Ahaṅkāra yields to no treatment. The one medicine that subdues Ahaṅkāra is the principle of God alone! Apart from it, no other medicine is of any use at all.
We students, we teachers, we who are educated: how must we conduct ourselves?
