Passage 15

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

In some matters people are somewhat careless. We have set up a Trust for each State too. This is not for Me; it is all yours! Whatever work is done, it is for you! That feeling must come in you. ‘This is ours, not Swami's. Swami is ours. Since He is ours, all this is ours’: that feeling must grow in you. When, trusting you, We put all Our strength and skill into this, if you do not act as befits it, it amounts to doing great harm. I am telling you a small example.

The running of the Sathya Sai organisations must be such as to be an ideal to the world

In each State there is Property. Not for Me: for you! We have built mandirs. There are sites. There are some other facilities too. All these are provided for you. No one is enquiring in which State all these are. I am telling you an example. In Madras we built a building called Sundaram. It is more than six years since that building was built. It is twenty years since We bought that Land. We set up a Trust for it. It has a convenor. Everyone is there. The Central Trust stays quiet, thinking they are looking after it. Yesterday We received a notice. ‘That municipal tax has not been paid for twenty years’: look! How shameful this becomes, when things are like this! Even so, had they told Us, We would have paid it Ourselves! In the same way, the officers of each State must look after the properties in that State well. The responsibility for seeing to such things as whether the tax has been paid lies on them. If they do not carry out their responsibilities properly in that way, is it a help they have done the Trust? Or a harm? Not one naya paisa need be paid from their own hands. We give no one any responsibility in the matter of money. How many subscriptions the other organisations levy and pay! We give no room at all for subscriptions. It is not that this is a loss to Me. We pay the tax, but what a bad name comes to the Sathya Sai Organisation!
