Passage 14

In plain words

Indulal Shah used to write many letters to the State Presidents. He would write: ‘Is there any objection from such-and-such, are there any difficulties? Please let me know.’ But they would send a wrong reply to the letter. What the State Presidents wrote, that all was well, was one thing; what they said was another. In this way the State Presidents spoiled Indulal Shah's mind. I myself have seen many letters. Will these Human values cause any trouble to Bāla Vikās and to bhajans? Please send your opinion, he once asked. Every State President nodded his head like a performing bull: ‘No objection at all, it is fine.’ I too saw those letters. State Presidents must not give wrong reports in this way. They may learn what the truth is; there is nothing wrong in that. Covering up the truth and going on reporting what is false will not do; these State Presidents may explain their own difficulties and benefits; they have the authority to say, ‘It is like this, it is like that.’ But there is no explaining of that kind, no inspiring; there is only complaint. Complaint of this kind must not come again from now on. Go on protecting this tree. Consult among yourselves. Each one's opinion will be different. So all of you together must come to one decision. Sooner or later everyone has to enter into this and work co-operatively! Even now Indulal Shah has made many plans on this matter, with great wisdom and experience. His views and his directions you will have to follow to the letter. If all the organisations are to come into the right state in future, we must all work together in harmony. When there is so big an Organisation, differences of opinion between one man and another, and annoyance at one time or another, cannot be helped. I too hiss now and then. Unless I do so, the work does not get done. If all of you go on doing good work, there will be no occasion at all for anger. But you are not doing it. That is why you give occasion for anger. If you do your work properly, everything will surely go smoothly, sweetly, peacefully. This is not something that happens in the hands of one person. One flower is not a garland; many flowers must come together.
