Passage 7

In plain words

Today a change of heart is needed

In Bhārata, unity is greatly needed. If there are four brothers in one house, the four have four opinions. ‘Muṇḍe muṇḍe matirbhinnaḥ’: as heads differ, so thoughts differ. This is not good. Heads and thoughts may differ. But adjustment is very necessary. If we first have understanding, adjustment becomes easy. If there is understanding between wife and husband, no quarrel of any kind can arise. But if there is no understanding, fights begin. If there is the understanding that the Ātma, which is divinity, is in all, no differences of any kind arise. In just the way that others' respect would make me happy, I too must respect others. If you yourself do not respect others, how will others respect you? Life is not a oneway traffic, give and take. You must give the heart, and take the heart. This is possible only in Prema. So today we must foster brotherhood among students. Today human values must become a textbook. Yet humanness is not a textbook. Humanness must come from the heart. Book knowledge is stuffed in from outside. But humanness wells up from within. So we must develop knowledge. Today people are sunk only in the book and the head. What is needed is not mere acquaintance with books. It must be in practice. He writes everything in his head into the examination and comes away with his skull empty. The head is a polaroid picture. You cannot make copies from it. But the heart is a negative. From a negative you can make any number of copies. Today a change of heart is needed. The mind must change.

The mind alone is the root cause of everything

In this world we speak of good and bad. To my mind, there are no such things as good and bad.
