Passage 7

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

But they do not trust the sacred words of God, the Vedic sayings ‘Tattvamasi, prajñānaṃ brahma, ayamātma brahma, ahaṃ brahmasmi’. They trust things that are impermanent and fleeting, and are deceived. So far has the condition of man today fallen. The reason is that they are moving away from faith in God. They have given themselves over to faith in the world. What we must do today is develop faith in God. The young people of today go on making many kinds of plans. These plans will never bring them Śānti. Make any plans you like with faith in God, and they will bear fruit. But the plans you make must be only those that concern God. But if, with faith in God, you enter into many kinds of wrong ideas and waste your life, God can do nothing about that.

Whoever develops purity is a brahmacārī!

Many people, women too, think about puruṣārtha in many ways: ‘Is it only for men? Is it not for women?’ Puruṣārtha does not simply mean ‘a man’. In the principle of ‘icchārāmobhavati, tṛptobhavati, ātmārāmobhavati’, the name ‘puruṣaḥ’ belongs to the very power of consciousness that moves through the body from the nails to the top of the head. One is not a puruṣa merely by the body. That consciousness is in every body. So this puruṣārtha applies to all, women and men alike. That is why they gave this puruṣārtha the name ‘parama puruṣārtha’. We must strive to understand the principle of this parama puruṣārtha. Nowadays many people keep saying, ‘We need morality, we need morality.’ What is morality? They call this very thing character. But they called it a principle. If you ask how it came about: morality is what rests on pure feeling.
