In plain words

This Śivājī. When God Himself, the great Lord of the world, is my lord, how can I be without a lord? You alone are the Lord of all. If one looks to see whether anyone has no lord, You are that one without a lord,’ he said. ‘The reason is that You have no other lord. You alone are the Lord of the whole world. You are Jagannātha. You are Lōkanātha. You are Prāṇanātha. You are Dēhanātha. Viśvanātha are You. You are there, the Lord of all. You have no other lord. So, Rāma, You are the one without a lord. So You take all these things and go,’ he said. Such were the people of that time: men who had attained so broad a vision, sādhakas who had prapatti.

In people today there is nothing but juggling with words; the mind does not come to ripeness at all. ‘Look at the words and they leap over forts; look at the feet and they will not cross the threshold!’ he said. One can say a crore of things; they will not do one.’ But are we doing it? Duty devotion must be offered to God. “Dedication,” said Gopīcandram. There may be devotion, but are you doing duty as duty? When you do not do your duty, what use is it to have devotion. We have put each one in as monitor of a room. Did all the seven or eight people in his room come to bhajan yesterday! Did he see whether they attended prayer? Then what duty has he done? If monitors like these lead them down this wrong path, how can the children grow? How can he have any authority to tell them anything? Where is his Bhakti? Today, until we give them a seat, they fall at our feet. Once we give the seat, until the studies are over, the parents and the others display great Bhakti and prapatti. The moment the studies are finished, they start their dramas. My father is not well. My father's eyesight is poor. Poor things, they have no one. I have the duty of going home and looking after them. They make this plan. All this time, who looked after their father? Was the father well only until your studies were done, and does he go to pieces the moment they are over? And the parents too are the beat and the pitch to go with it. Once the studies are over, why should he stay there? ‘If he comes here he will earn three thousand, or four thousand, or five thousand and pour it on our heads, won't he’: with this greed, theirs too is a plan of that kind. I am not saying you should not go to your parents. You must certainly serve your parents. But go to your parents by following a proper way. But do not play false dramas to go to them and to leave this place. I do not like that. Playing dramas like this is nothing but treason against God. They keep thinking ‘Bhakti, Bhakti’, but many of the children do not understand what Bhakti is.
