In plain words
To make this unity clearly recognised, the Vedas have taught many kinds of mantras. All must live together in unity.
Together, in harmony, let us grow; together, in harmony, let us move; together, in harmony, let us make the knowledge we have learned shine.
That all must live together in harmony is the Veda's own standard. But today no such unity is seen. Just “Hello, hello, How are you, Good bye, Good bye.” With that alone we cut off our bonds and our kinship. For this reason, the spiritual path has held out gratitude as the chief aim. For any help you have received, however small, you must stay grateful all your life. This is the chief duty students must learn. It is not only studying, taking degrees, getting into a big job and earning a great deal of money. The people of old earned money too. But they put all that money to use for Dharma. They had rest-houses built. They had wells dug. They founded places of learning. They set up health centres. In this way they used their wealth for Dharma. Today, the more money grows, the more it goes into building mansions, buying cars only for self-interest, sitting in clubs and playing cards: into misuse. As the king, so the people: money is misused in the very way it came. Because it was money earned by hard work, they used it properly, on the path of Dharma.
Students! Earn money. That is no wrong. Make the effort to use it on the path of Dharma. Otherwise that money will bring our family all kinds of torment. Today the devotees of Siri are growing in number. But devotees of Hari are nowhere to be seen. Worshippers of Lakṣmī are seen. But worshippers of Śrīman Nārāyaṇa are seen nowhere. Such is the Bhakti and surrender of today. Siri comes today. Tomorrow she goes. Holding a hundred rupees in your hand, “Aha! These are my hundred rupees,” you think, and the money looks at your face and laughs. “You fool! How many faces like yours I have seen! Now I am off to someone else's face again,” it says. All this money is not ours.
Spiritual wealth alone is true wealth. This wealth yields to no one. Fire does not burn it. Thieves cannot take it. Water does not soak it. Brothers cannot divide it.
