In plain words
Then they buy another new car. They will have set many kinds of limits on it. You are to use the horn only in certain areas, at certain times. You are to press the brakes only in certain places. The reason is that on the road no donkeys, pigs or dogs come in the way. The cars keep going at speed on the roads. Cars going one way have one road; cars coming have another road. There is no chance at all to sound the horn there. There is no need even to apply the brakes. If we bring those cars to our India, we must press the brake at every step. We must sound the horn at every step. Even when you sound the horn, the man walking in the bazaar comes and knocks against the bumper. Tell me, is there any connection between the atmosphere of our India and the cars of countries outside? That is why we must start industries according to the atmosphere of our country. Business is not merely a trade of giving and taking.
Life is a business. Without giving up some one thing, there is no way for us to gain a second. Only when we give up do good qualities arise in us. Only when we put away bad conduct does good conduct develop in us. Without giving up one thing, there is no chance of entering another. We went to a shop. If you put 5 rupees in his hand, he slaps a hand kerchief down in front of you. After that, it and we have no connection at all. We have paid what was to be given to him. He has given what was to be given to us. Then, cut off. There is no further connection. This is outward trade. But this trade I spoke of is not like that. Heart to heart. Love to Love. So in unity itself there is multiplicity. In multiplicity itself there is unity. Only when we recognise this true principle do we become true traders. According to their own relationship, each makes use of that person in that way.
In a home there is the master of the house. The son comes and calls him, "Father." The wife comes and says, "husband." The mother comes and calls him, "Son." The grand son comes and calls him, "Grandfather." Their relationship is different in each case, but the person is just the one. So in the field of trade we have one relationship with one thing and another with another, but our principle of the Ātma is one alone. So what must first of all be in us is mankind. If that is in us, we can achieve anything. We must raise the value of humanness. That quality alone is the true quality. Animal quality must not come into us. Animal mind must not come. That is why at the very start I said man of mind. Only when that is there can he rise and prosper well in business.
